Nanaimo recently held its year end tournament at Beban Park fields. Teams in all age groups from U6 to U16/19 excepting U14 were present ( they were playing in Ladysmith ). Games took place starting at 830 each morning with some games finishing on Saturday around 6pm and around 330 on Sunday afternoon.

While the younger ages just played on the Saturday, the older teams from Ladysmith, Parksville, Port Alberni, and Nanaimo fought for medals. In U12, Ladysmith won gold, Nanaimo #2 coached by Kerry Dahling won silver and Nanaimo coached by Amanda won Bronze. Ladysmith U19 team won the U16/19 Gold Medal, Nanaimo U16/19 #2 coached by Darryl Vink won Silver and Nanaimo #1 coached by Tom Smith won Bronze.

Our U14 team who played in Ladysmith coached by Jeremy Nickolet won that tournament with a perfect record in their age group.

We saw what was probably the best and most competitive Softball played in several years. On the opening day where teams played to determine playoff positions, several of the games scores were within 1 run and one game was a tie so excellent play by our players.

It was also an exciting day for one Nanaimo parent. In our first 50-50 lottery played on-line, the winner won $945 from a $10 ticket.

Congratulations to all teams. Thanks to the volunteers who were behind the play providing food and drinks, keeping score, and lining and manicuring the fields between games.

2019 saw our biggest increase in registration in several years. Come join us in 2020 for another exciting season.
