Welcome to NMSA!

The Nanaimo Minor Softball Association is a non-profit organization that is run by dedicated volunteers from the community. NMSA welcomes you to the upcoming 2019 season – another exciting and never dull past-time in Nanaimo when we of all ages, boys and girls, parents, grandparents and anyone else who loves softball come out to cheer for each other.

Our Association does not run on any group of people but rather all of us need to contribute to make it a success.  This includes your Board of Directors, coaches, managers, and a group of other volunteers who assist in the various tournaments throughout the year.

NMSA continues to provide a great product in Nanaimo for youth. Last year, we had our largest growth in several years with the U6 group expanding significantly which will hopefully mean that these kids will stay with the game for the next 12 years.

We encourage parents and guardians to register kids early so that teams and coaches can be matched and be ready to play in April. We have increased our fees by $10 per player to cover some equipment cost increase but we continue to have the lowest fees of all sports with equipment provided as well.

As noted, we do rely heavily on volunteers – people like you and I who realise the enjoyment of seeing kids having fun and are willing to put in a few hours each week to help out in ensuring that the kids learn and move forward in their enjoyment. Some of the ways you can help are:

  • Coaching or managing a team
  • Assisting at tournaments handling the 50/50 draws, cooking burgers, and taking registrations.
  • Lining fields
  • Helping distribute and collecting equipment
  • Umpiring, scorekeeping

At our next AGM in April, there will be several Board positions open such as volunteer coordinator,  advertising director, tournament director, and Directors at large who can multi-task when needed. So please attend when we post the date and become part of our dedicated Board.

We know that each year, kids will age out of our Association and so there is a steady influx of new kids and new parents which means a continual need for parents to step forward. You might not have a softball background but you have the ability to be role models for the kids in allowing them to have fun; that will be the most important attribute you can bring to the field.
