2021 Registration Update

Thank you to all the coaches, volunteers and participants who played in our interesting 2020 Summer Softball Season! As COVID-19 restrictions are expected to continue through the 2021 season, and with our experience from 2020, we will be doing things differently in 2021 for coaches, player registration and planning.

Our first priority will be to find dedicated parents who would like to coach their children and are committed to participating under these challenging conditions. In order to open up registration to players in the new year, we will require parents to step forward as Coaches for each and every team in advance, so that we can provide the best support possible to the Coach and set them up for success with their team. Online Information sessions will be provided in the new year for any volunteers who step forward before we begin player registrations.

Under COVID-19, each diamond has a maximum capacity of 50 people total for 2 teams including players, coaches, mandatory safety roles, umpires and spectators for a total of 25 individuals per team, which may change during the season depending on updated Provincial restrictions.

Our second priority, once coaches for teams are identified, will be player registration, which will open on a first come first serve basis and will only be open to ages and teams where a coach has been Named.

A more complete outline will be available on our website in the new year.

Please send your name, name and birth year of your player you would like to Coach and contact information to administrator@nanaimosoftball.ca if you are interested in coaching in 2021. We will begin compiling potential coaches names and reach out to you in the new year regarding Information Sessions and next steps.

Thank you,
